Clear Communication for Passenger Safety
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard flight seven. Before we take off, we would like to draw your attention to the safety features of this aircraft. We ask that you please pay close attention as this demonstration may differ from aircraft to aircraft.
Your seatbelt must be fastened at all times while seated. To fasten, insert the metal end into the buckle, and adjust the strap to fit snugly across your lap. To release, simply lift the buckle.
In the unlikely event of sudden turbulence, keep your seatbelt fastened at all times, even when the seatbelt sign is turned off.
Your cabin crew will now point out the emergency exits. There are two doors at the front, two over-wing exits in the middle, and two doors at the back of the aircraft. Please take a moment to locate the nearest exit. Bear in mind that the nearest usable exit may be behind you.
If needed, oxygen masks will drop down automatically from the compartment above your seat. Pull the mask down firmly to start the flow of oxygen. Place the mask over your nose and mouth, and breathe normally. Secure your own mask first before assisting others.
Life jackets are located under your seat. In the unlikely event of a water landing, take the life jacket out from under your seat and place it over your head. Fasten the straps around your waist and pull the tabs to inflate the life jacket. If you need to inflate it further, blow into the tubes at the top. There is a whistle and a light for attracting attention.
Please ensure that all electronic devices are switched off during take-off and landing. Larger devices should be stowed securely in the overhead locker or under the seat in front of you.
Thank you for your attention, and we hope you enjoy your flight with us.
Shadowing is a language learning technique where you listen to a speaker and simultaneously repeat what they're saying, mimicking their pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm. It's a highly effective way to improve your spoken English and internalise correct pronunciation patterns. In this course, you'll be shadowing a native RP speaker delivering the cabin crew safety announcement.
Spaced repetition is a learning method that involves reviewing material at increasing intervals. This technique helps reinforce learning and improves long-term retention. Each lesson in this course focuses on a single sentence, making it easy to practice and repeat each phrase effectively using spaced repetition.
Received Pronunciation, often called "RP" or "BBC English," is the traditional accent of educated speakers in southern England. It's widely considered a standard form of British English and is often preferred for international communication due to its clarity and widespread recognition. This course focuses on mastering RP for the cabin crew safety announcement.
This course is primarily designed for aspiring and current cabin crew worldwide who want to enhance their English communication skills and deliver clear, professional safety announcements in Received Pronunciation.
