Meet Anton, an expert in English pronunciation with over 14 years of experience.
My interest in English pronunciation began over 14 years ago while working at an English pronunciation school in Tokyo. Since then, I have expanded my teaching expertise to cater to individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds such as Chinese, Russian, Italian, Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, French, Korean, African languages, and many more.
It has been an enriching experience to connect with learners from various linguistic backgrounds, allowing me to adapt my teaching methods and materials to meet their unique needs.
I have always been interested in languages and the thought process involved in language acquisition. It's not just about studying, but also developing the correct mindset. You really have to consider the whole thought process. How do native speakers of a certain language think? How do they process information? How do they develop the ability to read, write and speak?
My second language is French, and my third language is Japanese. Analyzing the patterns of behaviour of native speakers has helped me acquire the skills necessary to work as a Japanese-English translator in a range of specialist fields.
Currently, I offer two courses:
Received Pronunciation: Complete Course and Student Correction Course.
If you are new to pronunciation, I recommend starting with the basic course, Received Pronunciation: Complete Course. In this course, you will learn the basics of Received Pronunciation. Each sound is introduced step-by-step together with exercises to help reinforce your newly found knowledge. You will learn to identify the different vowel sounds according to the shape of the mouth, the position of the tongue, and their respective positions on the vowel sound chart. You will also learn to aspirate the consonant sounds in a native-like manner. The complete course requires a minimum of 30 hours to complete.
If you are already familiar with the basics, I recommend Student Correction Course Series I. In this course, we examine the difficulties that non-native English speakers can have according to their linguistic background.

While the United Kingdom is home to a myriad of accents and dialects, there is no definitive "correct way" to speak English. However, RP has emerged as the standard form of pronunciation used in most British English dictionaries and is often considered suitable for clear communication.
RP holds a special place in the entertainment industry, particularly in Hollywood, where it is widely perceived as clear and easy to understand. Consequently, many British actors adopt RP as their accent of choice, especially when performing in international productions that cater to audiences from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
The preference for RP among British actors in Hollywood is also influenced by the longstanding tradition of casting British talent in leading roles. Many British actors, trained in the classical theatre tradition, have been taught to speak RP as part of their training. This practice has played a significant role in establishing RP as the default accent for British actors in Hollywood.
There are variations of RP including both traditional and modern forms. In this course, we focus specifically on the modern form of RP, which aligns with contemporary linguistic trends and usage. By exploring this modern variant, learners can acquire a relevant and up-to-date understanding of RP and its application in English communication.
